Rhizome Net is an unaffiliated network of Autistic Rights Movement. The goal of Rhizome Net is to interconnect Autistic organizations, Autistic individuals, and our Allies who are a part of the Autistic Rights Movement by the merits of their mission, policies, and deeds. We share a common Purpose – “A better world for our people and other disabled and disenfranchised people”.
This network is grown through Rhizome principle, where each of us connects to the other. This is not just a Social network – it is a network of Action. This network is built from within, and it is built on trust. The rules of conduct for all the participants follow the golden rule and the guiding principle of the Autistic Rights movement – which states that – “We will treat each other compassionately in the struggle for justice, recognizing how we are all different, incomplete, traumatized, and yet worthy of being a part of it”.
The benefits of Rhizome Net to participating Autistic Organizations include an increased and potentially all encompassing range for distribution of information and ideas to Autistic community, and the avenues for inter-organizational and mass collaboration. Autistic people and allies, including individuals from autistic and allied organizations are welcomed – there is no affiliated conflict in supporting and taking part in the Movement, and there is no pressure on participants from the Movement. While we don’t need to agree on everything, we should act together when we do.
Joining the network allows people: A) to be aware of things happening in the movement, B) allows people to choose where and how to apply themselves to different initiatives by the participating Autistic organizations, and C) allows people to initiate and promote the projects of their own. This is an informational and collaborative network geared for action to advance the ARM movement.
