The winter of 2018 was exceptionally harsh with heavy snow loads and treacherous icing that put our structures to the test; the yurt took it in stride but the light attachment to the yurt [made of PVC] has partially collapsed; the roof covered by a heavy duty tarp caved in creating a bowl where snow, ice, and later the melting water have accumulated pushing the walls in. This has definitively pointed to a need for stronger structure, the building of which I have undertaken in the early spring and which continued into the fall with much needed help from family, friends, and their guests.
Meanwhile we’ve had also a few repeat self-sufficient guests enjoying the place, staying at the yurt and camping on the grounds. And the beavers have returned and done what they do by restoring the dams and making the place amazing again.
