GAIA Project Update 12/31/2014

During this fall we have completed the construction of the additional light impact structure [nicknamed – the Wagon] attached to the yurt and designed to house kitchen, bathroom, and also serve as the yurt lobby [so far we’ve installed there a propane heater, a toilet, and a sink].

The remaining work includes: the water catchment setup for the yurt; kitchen and shower installation in the Wagon; setting two small camping sites near the Yurt with medium size tents that will be used in addition to the Yurt to house guests in the summer; an outdoor shower; and an outdoor kitchen; as well as the completion of nature trails, and the nature observation points. This work is planned for the spring 2015 to be completed by the end of June.

The other part of this project is to create and execute a strategy and a plan for the site for the summer [2015]. The site is an ideal learning grounds for children and youth [situated inside an unique and thriving natural habitat], and will be welcoming autistic children and their families, as well as autistic adults, as the summer grounds for convening with natural world, learning about nature and becoming comfortable in natural surroundings. The site will be also open to artists, scientists, and teachers both young and distinguished who would like to come, interact, learn work, exhibit, and share their knowledge and spiritual understanding on informal bases. There are also ideas of using the yurt for performances and or art exhibits.
