ORGANIC

This is the first step on a symbiotic path. It begins with return to organic agriculture.

Intro:
The demand for organic produce is rising; it is rooted in our increased understanding of the ways and means of non-organic farming (pesticides, steroids, hormones, antibiotics, and what else used by contemporary mass produce of farming industry) and their harmful effects on our health.
Consequently people want ‘organic’ for the most primal reason – our health.  Those who can afford it buy organic. Some who can’t be fully organic try to buy it for their children; some buy selective products (like milk or eggs) choosing the products they believe to be more important or for its better taste. But the great majority can’t afford the organic produce.

In our essence we are a symbiotic organism with symbiotic lineage but our contemporary culture has adapted parasitic proclivity; this began by betrayal of those who made us stand above others – the animals we first befriended and domesticated, and then exploited beyond measure and degraded to a commodity. And what we do with them now is atrocity – a horrific atrocity.
Societal conscience however is merging with what we subconsciously knew all along – that the produce of animals which live and die in despair is unhealthy even as a fodder or what else one may take from it.  The ‘cage free, free range, pasture raised’ agriculture is a direct result of our moral awakening and the emerging understanding of the detrimental effects to our self in both the physical and spiritual domains; this has become an essential part of Organic Movement.

It is important to add that our analysis of contemporary scientific strata confirms a notion that the betterment of individual health commonly results in significant overall savings of health expenditures. In this way the funding of ORGANIC is effectively a preventive and money saving health policy.

Project idea:
It begins by creating The ORGANIC Enterprise [envisioned as non-profit] to help people buy organic by subsidizing an organic purchase.
In the initial phase [ORGANIC will begin as a Rhizome project of DL] – the software will be created to support the endeavor. This software will include the handling of individual memberships and accounts, handling of the donations and public funding, and handling of the participating stores.  The next phase would involve promoting it to the public,  a public campaign (by organizers and members) for donations and public funds, and enlisting the participation of food industry [stores].

Once the nominal parameters sufficient to begin the operation are reached the ORGANIC operation would commence.

How and Why it will work:
When you become a member, an account will be created in your name and the entry fee [of $10.00] will be placed in your account. You’ll be able to use these money for your organic purchase, and you can withdraw your money if you decide to leave.
Any money from donations [see below] will be added to member accounts in equal shares to be used at your discretion for organic purchase. In this way it is beneficial to become a member as early as possible, since donations from a private source are immediately distributed in equal shares to all the present members.
Any funding ORGANIC receives from local or federal governments will become available to members supplementing their purchase as per government defined rules [such as money from municipal or county budgets are likely to be restricted to local residents, and the amount supplemented may be adjusted to accommodate the future members]. However the principle of ORGANIC is that it bolsters all the members regardless of their income and assets.

When you enlist as a member you’ll be asked to join our team in promoting the idea to others and also to join our campaign for funding and donations; we shall target all the philanthropies and charities and corporations and billionaires who are [we are sure] users of organic produce asking them to put their moneys where the mouth is. We will ask you to address your government representatives, who most likely are also users of organic produce to do the same. We’ll ask you to pursue it tenaciously, as your health and the health of your families depends on it.

At the same time in this promotion phase we’ll enlist you to work with us in promoting the ideas to your local stores. The stores that would participate early will have a greater chance to do better than others for two reasons: first the organic purchase in the same quantities brings more revenue and profit, second by opening ahead of others they would attract new customers. The stores will be supplied with the software to process your membership card, which may also be joined with your credit/debit card, and/or to a smart device. It is in the interest of the card industry to support this since it brings the Organic account’s liquidity to the venue’s interim usage.

Once the operation ORGANIC goes into effect, then when you (the member) come to a participating food store on a particular day you will have a specified amount in ORGANIC at your discretion specifically for subsidizing the organic purchase; how specifically this works and how the subsidy amount is computed for various products is addressed below.

It is important to make sure that stores or other parties don’t exploit ORGANIC by hiking the cost of organic produce or manipulating the cost on non-organic produce to exploit the program. To this end the estimated margins should be computed for both the organic and non-organic produce, which will be used to prevent this from happening.
The subsidy therefore may be computed on per state to state bases for a variety of produce and should be same in every store regardless of particular store’s price. This assessment might be done by an independent statistical agency which will identify most commonly purchased prices per product for both organic and non-organic produce and consolidate each to a margin price. The difference between the two would determine the amount of subsidy for each product. This will naturally push the ORGANIC funds towards the most desired products as per customer demand and subsequently would effect the change in the farming practices naturally for most important products first as demand would rise.

Benefits:
The return to organic farming is essential to health of our people resulting also in great long term saving for Healthcare and Environment; just as importantly it will begin our return to humane treatment of domestic animal. It is a simple logic that what is good for each individual would translate cumulatively to be good for the Nation.
